What is like Travelling in Pattaya.

Pattaya (pronounced as Pah-teeh -ya) is a tourist attraction of a different kind. A place where travellers seeking a good time and to get away from their humble abode. From all of it’s crazy antics in partying and it’s wild fantasies, you also get to see the friendly faces which greets you with open arms.

We came to Pattaya to experience the water festival where I’m ready to get showered and powdered which I hope is baby powder. Coming from Koh Chang island, we heard that this place can be pretty wild so we decided to come here rather than relaxing in a remote island. Thus Pattaya, was the closest to get drench. We did consider going to Chiang Mai but is out of the way, more so that we have to get to Siem Reap Cambodia) to do overland travel.

Accomodation

We stayed at a hostel which seems pretty close to the lively atmosphere i.e. Walking Street (5 minute walk). The hostel is owned by a Danish guy, I can’t seem to remember his name but appears to be happy where he is right now. I did recall his story at a time when he was living in the Philippines and came quite close to death. His story was a miracalous one where his chance of living is played out through a game of cards (I don’t know if it was poker or blackjack) and for him telling his story give’s me an insight to his life that his life in Thailand is a rosier chapter.

So the place we stayed is comfortable and stayed for 5 days / 4 nights. We have our own fridge and good size of a double bed. The air-con is handy for a normal weather (i.e. 32 degress celcius – I know it’s hot) and a window to view the building’s wall which you can almost touch it.

The place, is good and safe and is also close to a nearby shopping centre which you stay cool for hot weather and a supermarket that you can be food that are safe and is quite cheap.

Food

As always, food in Thailand is cheap but in Pattaya I think is a tad cheaper. A lot of variety to choose. Ranging from street food to foreign restaurants alike.

Things to do.

Strolling along the walking steet is quite an experience. Its an attraction for party go-ers but also curious people to see the mini sin city like places where you could see go go dancers in the balcony. It’s also a place that attracts a truck load of tourists that came via the ferry port where you could see a group of chinese, japanese and koreans (mostly Asians) who would see this out of the ordinary atmosphere. Be warned of nudity that showcase on the menu where eager people trying to invite people in the club.

Other than walking street, there’s a plethore of shopping malls and also a day trips to nearby island to frolick in other beaches.

I’m not for sale
